【Korean Coaching】I memorized 1600 Korean words!

안녕하세요!!

토미입니다!

This time, I have invited Alma, one of my “Fast Korean” course  students!

I (Tammy) will briefly introduce Alma.

She is Spanish and she is 14 years old.

To summarize her achievements: Alma proudly scored TOPIK I  Level II in just two months.

When I first met Alma, she took a TOPIK mock test.

At that time, she scores Listening for 57 and Reading for 47, total of 104 points.

But, after two months of my coaching period, she scored Listening 78, Reading 81, for a total of 159 points.

Congratulations! 🎉

In short — her listening score jumped 21 points, from 57  to 78!!!

Her reading score went up 34 points, from 47 to 81!

Hooray!!

Now let’s hear in detail how Alma achieved these results!

그럼 시작할게요!

※From this point on, it will be Alma’s remarks.

Self-introduction

Hello, my name is Alma.

I’m 14 years old from Spain.

I have been learning Korean for about three years now.

The reason why I started taking the Fast Korean course

What made you decide to learn Korean?

The main reason why I started learning Korean was because I fell in love with Korean culture, and I wanted to understand my favorite idols among other things.

And I would love to live in Korea in the future, so all those things were the main engine.

Before taking my Fast Korean course, what was your Korean level?

My Korean level was around TOPIK I Level I, or maybe even a little lower.

At that time, I listened to idols but could only understand some simple words like 진짜, 왜, 미안해요, and things like that.

When it came to reading, I could understand a little more, but not very clearly in a common phrase, I only understood a couple of words.

What struggles did you have? How were you studying at the time?

My struggle was probably the way I studied.

At that time, I studied by taking my notebook, watching videos and copying them, and I learned grammar the same way.

The problem with this way was that I wasn’t very consistent.

For example, even if I studied a grammar one day, I wouldn’t review it the next day, so even though I knew the grammar, I couldn’t really understand it well.

Why did you decide to take the course?

As I mentioned earlier, I have been studying Korean for a while but I never saw big changes or even see a reflection of my effort in the final result.

So I thought joining would be an amazing opportunity for me and one that I would never regret.

And I was right.

After enrolling, how many months did it take to see results, and what kind of results did you achieve?

The results started appearing after three weeks.

I started understanding more Korean while watching my favorite idols.

I get surprised with myself at how fast results start appearing.

And I don’t think it was a sudden thing like “Tomorrow it’s going to be better”, but after two months, I could see the complete results.

What made the difference in your progress, and what aspects of my coaching service did you find most helpful?

I would say the biggest change I noticed from before to after was the repetition of vocabulary and both grammar.

Repeating every single day made me stay more focused.

For example, I learn a word on the first day, and then I review it on the second day, which helps me remember it better.

Also, in terms of the coaching service, It was really helpful that you asked me about my everyday schedule.

I appreciate that you paid attention to my study sheet.

Thanks to that, I was able to have a clear routine and do my best to follow it.

If you hadn’t taken the Fast Korean Coaching course, what do you think you would be doing now?

Probably, my Korean wouldn’t have improved really much.

I think I would have ended up doing what I used to do – finishing one grammar point and then moving on to the next without actually remembering it.

So I’m really grateful for this opportunity.

Your future plans for learning Korean and your ultimate goal

I plan to practice more listening every single day by using podcasts or videos that I can listen to and repeat.

As for grammar, I will continue studying with Tammy’s videos.

And, my ultimate goal is to speak Korean as fluently as I speak English, or even my native Spanish.

Of course, going to Korea someday is also one of my dreams!

Message to the viewers

Sometimes it seems difficult or you see everything really hard to get, but the effort that you put in at that moment is what makes you stronger.

I sincerely encourage you to face it, because if I could do it, I’m 100% sure you can too.

Just like my favorite phrase, “Life is a conundrum of esoterica,” let’s have the courage to try new things and keep going!
